HRH Impact Trip

Hello Everyone,

We hope all is well with you and yours. As many of you know, K.I.D.S. is comprised of many individuals, foundations, families, school programs and businesses that support our work in Cambodia. We are incredibly grateful to all those that support us to assist others living in very difficult situations. One group that has been partnering with K.I.D.S. for many years is Healthy Role Models, founded by Sarah Gilks. This innovative program brings women together online to learn about fitness, health and much more. Healthy Role Models also believes in community and giving back to others. Over the years, Sarah and HRM women have raised funds for classrooms, clean drinking water systems, houses, bathrooms and ongoing support for our educational and medical programs. This year Sarah, a group of HRM women, Sarah's partner Alec and daughter Sophia decided to pay their own way and come to visit those whom they have so generously assisted, particularly with house building and painting a village school.

Many of the families of the students in our Smart Kids educational support program live and work near or in brick factories in extremely difficult situations. Each year K.I.D.S. raises funds to improve their living conditions by building simple houses and basic outdoor bathrooms. We witness how life changes for them once they have decent places to live, so that they have time to grow gardens and gain access to cleaner and healthier lifestyles.

New home is being built for this family of six.

New home for a family of 7 that lived in this small shack for many years.

Their gratitude is overwhelming. HRM participants were able to attend the blessing of these house and hear first hand the appreciation these families felt.

We also are grateful to Sarah Gilks the HRM team for supporting K.I.D.S. and Alec Watson for the amazing photos he took and shared with K.I.D.S. The children at the school had lots of fun with the HRM Impact Team and in return they shared their kindness, laughter and friendship.

As they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here is another one of Alec's photos that captures the joy children can find even in the face of their challenging lives. Thanks to K.I.D.S. donors and Healthy Role Models together we bring smiles and changes that improve and better the lives of children!!
